Platinum Structural Steel erects new frames, additions and infill steel for general contractors and construction managers within 50 miles of Boston.
We work off the engineer's structural drawings and the fabricator's approved shop drawings. Our crews shake out, set, plumb, bolt up and torque the frame, then hand the deck to the next trade with a punch list already worked down rather than handed over.

- Anchor bolt survey and review before steel arrives, with a written discrepancy list if the bolt pattern does not match the shop drawings
- Receiving, offloading and shake-out of fabricated steel on site or from a staging yard
- Setting columns, base plates, leveling and bearing plates, grout coordination
- Setting beams, girders, trusses, bracing and moment connections
- Bolting up, torquing to spec, and field welding of connections by certified welders
- Plumbing and aligning the frame, cable or rod bracing until the diaphragm is complete
- Bar joist, girt, purlin and metal deck installation where included in the scope
- Detail steel: embeds, lintels, angles, kickers and infill
- Daily reports, torque logs and photographs for the GC's project record

How we approach it
Pre-construction sits first. Before we mobilize we want the fabricator, the crane company and the GC on one call so the sequence, the pick weights and the crane window agree with each other. Most erection delays we see were decided weeks earlier, on a call that never happened.
Urban sites drive the plan. In Boston, Cambridge and Somerville the pick is usually over an occupied street, an abutter's roof or an active sidewalk. We build the sequence around the street occupancy permit and the police detail rather than pretending the crane can sit anywhere.
We plan for winter. New England erection runs through frost, ice on the steel and short daylight. Cold-weather welding procedures, de-icing, and realistic winter production rates go into the bid instead of showing up as a change order in February.
Safety is written per site. Fall protection, controlled decking zone, dropped-object protection and the crane's exclusion zone are documented before the first pick, not improvised on the deck.

The more of this you can send, the closer the number is to the final one. Missing items are not a blocker; they just become assumptions we write down.
- Structural drawings (S-sheets) and the general notes
- Approved shop drawings and erection drawings if fabrication is underway
- Fabricator, delivery schedule and who owns the material
- Site plan with crane access, laydown area and known overhead obstructions
- Your schedule window: mobilization date, crane window, topping-out date
- Whether the crane is by us or by others, and any existing pick plan
- Prevailing wage, union, or specific insurance requirements for the job
