In a dense city the pick is the project. Where the crane sits, what it can reach, which street closes and for how long often determines the whole erection sequence and half the cost.
Platinum plans and executes picks across Greater Boston, from straightforward mobile crane sets to gantry work and rolling steel into basements through window openings.
What’s included
- Pick planning: weights, radius, configuration, and critical lift review
- Mobile crane coordination, scheduling and site setup

- Tight-access rigging: gantries, chain falls, rollers, skates and jacks

How we approach it
Every pick starts with weights and a radius chart, not with a crane that is already on the schedule. If the configuration does not work we say so while there is still time to change it.
Urban setups drive the permit calendar. Street closures, sidewalk protection and police details in Boston and Cambridge have lead times, and we plan mobilization around them.
When a crane cannot reach, steel still gets in. Sectioned beams, rollers, gantry and hand rigging are routine for us in basements and back yards.
Typical applications
- Steel erection picks on constrained urban sites
- Rooftop mechanical equipment setting
- Beam delivery into basements and interior spaces
- Machinery moving and equipment setting in industrial buildings
What we need from you to bid it
The more of this you can send, the closer the number is to the final one. Missing items are not a blocker; they just become assumptions we write down.
- Site plan with the proposed crane location and access route
- Weights and dimensions of the heaviest pieces
- Overhead obstructions, power lines and abutting structures
- Required pick dates and any permitted street closure windows
- Whether the crane is furnished by us or by others
Associated scopes
On active projects, this work is commonly coordinated with Structural Steel Erection, Steel Beam Installation, Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings. Packaging connected scopes can reduce handoffs, but every proposal identifies exactly what is included.
