Brookline combines Boston-grade density along Beacon Street and Coolidge Corner with large historic single-family homes in the higher neighborhoods.
Both halves are access problems. Steel gets carried, not craned, in most of the town's older buildings.
Permitting and access
Brookline requires stamped structural drawings and inspections for load path changes, and its preservation review applies to a large number of properties. Condo work adds a private layer: association approval and the building's own engineer usually have to sign off before the town permit is meaningful. Street occupancy for any delivery or lift along Beacon or Harvard Street needs to be scheduled well ahead.
Typical local scopes
- Beam and column work in historic single-family homes
- Lintel replacement on brick apartment buildings
- Bearing wall removal in condo unit renovations
- Balcony, fire escape and exterior stair structural repair
